Abstract: During slavery, white people had a keen interest for the African continent and took the able-bodied persons to the Americas as slaves. In 1988, Toni Morrison released Beloved to castigate the evil of slavery and how it dehumanizes individuals and leaves sequels in their lives. This article pinpoints the hardships of slavery that lead Sethe to kill her daughter to save her from the excruciating treatment of slaves by their masters. Sethe’s committing infanticide displays the extent to which women suffer much from slavery.
